Sell
Yourself First, Your Company Second, Your Product/Service
Third
John Rovi, Curtainwall Design & Consulting
Marketing or selling your product or
services, for most people is easier than selling…. you. How
do you “sell yourself” without coming across as “selling?”
What are some of the steps to take in a meeting or a sales
call. How do you sell yourself first, your company second
and your product or service third? What is it in this order
and why is this order important? This session will cover
some of the steps on the introduction, the body, and the
close of a meeting or sales call. Examples and real stories
of why marketing and selling yourself first is so important. |

Electronically Tintable Glass in Building Envelopes – A
Project Showcase
Dr. Helen Sanders,
SAGE Electrochromics, Inc.
We live in a dynamic environment, but until
now our building envelopes have been static in nature –
unable to effectively control the flow of the sun’s light
and heat into buildings from hour to hour and from season to
season. Electronically tintable glass provides the means to
develop a dynamic façade with variable visible light
transmission and solar heat gain coefficient, which saves
cooling and lighting energy, and solves problems of
excessive solar heat gain, glare, fading and the need for
unsightly blinds. In fact, the US DOE states that their goal
of a zero energy building in 2030 cannot be achieved without
the use of dynamic glazing. Electronically tintable glass is
commercially available and is being actively specified and
installed in building envelopes. The presentation will focus
on reviewing a number of diverse case studies to demonstrate
the application of dynamic glass in different building types
and glazing applications to achieve different objectives
such as glare control, heat control and occupant comfort.
The glass installation process, system integration and other
supply aspects will also be discussed. |

The Future
of High Thermal Performance Fenestration
Mark Silverberg, Technoform NA, Inc.
Albert Stankus, Technoform Glass Insulation NA, Inc.
This presentation will focus on
the rapidly changing thermal performance requirements for
commercial fenestration and how our industry can
successfully and profitably adapt to these changes. We’ll
discuss what’s driving these changes, and where the codes
are going. We’ll look at examples of other countries that
have already traveled this path and what we can learn from
them. The relationship of performance requirements for the
fenestration industry to the big picture of the drive for
national energy independence will also be discussed. In
conclusion we’ll discuss the profitable opportunities for
those companies who adapt quickly to this new environment. |

Fred Millett, Pleotint
Thermochromics is an exciting new
adaptive glazing building product. The presentation will
focus on how adaptive glazing can contribute to reduced
energy consumption and enhance daylighting when integrated
into the building envelope. This will include performance
properties, the use of existing channels of fabrication and
the ability to be retrofit into existing buildings as well
as used for new construction. |
